What to expect at a Dry Eye assessment
Consultation
This is the first appointment with the Optometrist to fully understand your dry eye – what bothers you the most, when are the symptoms the worst and about your health, medications and daily visual tasks.
Recommendations
Depending on what your result are, the recommendation varies by patient, and can vary from advice, to drops, to needing advanced treatment using the new light therapies.
Testing
Using a specialist piece of equipment the lids, lashes, tear film and tear glands are checked and evaluated and once all the tests have been completed, the optometrists will discuss your dry eyes and discuss treatment options.
Treatment
If you should go ahead with the Light Therapies a course of 4 treatments is recommended over an initial 10-12 week period then top-ups are recommended every 3-6 months as needed.
Should you require one or both of these treatments, we book an hour time to allow time to discuss the treatment, do an examination of the front of the eye, carry out the treatments, examine the eyes treatments and carry out any additional procedures which may involve gland expression and cleansing of the lids.
